AI Usage & Transparency Policy

1. Purpose

This AI Usage & Transparency Policy explains how UNIMART AFRICA ("UNIMART", "we", "our", or "us") uses artificial intelligence on the Platform, including conversational agents (such as Junior and My Agent), personalized recommendations, search ranking, and related intelligent features.

It complements our Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and Acceptable Use Policy.

2. What AI Features We Offer

Depending on your account and campus, AI-powered features may include:

  • Conversational assistance — chat with My Agent / Junior to explore products, services, opportunities, and campus resources
  • Personalized recommendations — suggested listings, opportunities, businesses, and next actions
  • Feed and search ranking — ordering content based on relevance, campus context, and activity
  • Summaries and briefs — digests of updates, matches, or workspace items
  • Listing and workflow help — assistance creating or organizing commerce and opportunity-related content

Features evolve over time; availability may vary by region, campus, or product surface.

3. What Data AI Systems May Use

Subject to our Privacy Policy, AI systems may use:

  • Profile and campus information you provide
  • Skills, interests, goals, and preferences
  • Activity on the Platform (views, saves, applications, purchases where applicable)
  • Prompts, questions, commands, and conversation history with AI features
  • Feedback you give on recommendations or responses

We aim to use only what is reasonably needed to provide and improve these features.

Sacred vs aggregate: Your Junior conversation history and personal memory are treated as personal data on our side. Separately, we may use anonymized, aggregated signals (such as campus-level demand by category) to improve opportunities and commerce for everyone — without selling your private chats.

4. How We Use AI Outputs

AI outputs are generated to assist you. They may:

  • Surface relevant opportunities, products, or services
  • Help you navigate the Platform faster
  • Organize information you already have access to
  • Suggest next steps based on your context

AI outputs are not professional advice. They should not be treated as legal, financial, medical, immigration, or guaranteed career advice. Always verify important decisions independently.

5. Human Oversight and Accuracy

  • AI can be wrong, incomplete, outdated, or biased.
  • Listings, opportunity details, prices, and eligibility criteria remain the responsibility of the posting party.
  • We may use human review, safety filters, rate limits, and moderation tools to reduce abuse and harmful outputs.
  • We do not guarantee that every recommendation is the best or only option for you.

6. Training and Model Providers

We may use a mix of our own systems and trusted third-party AI or infrastructure providers to power features. Where third parties process data on our behalf, they do so under contractual and security obligations consistent with our Privacy Policy.

We do not sell your personal conversations as a product. We may use aggregated or de-identified insights to improve Platform quality, subject to applicable law and our Privacy Policy.

7. Your Choices

  • You can choose how much profile and preference information you share.
  • In agent settings you can turn Junior personalization off (chat still works; no new memory writes and no proactive Junior email).
  • You can request deletion of your Junior chats and memory from agent settings without deleting your whole UNIMART account.
  • You may request full account or data deletion as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • You should not submit sensitive personal data (for example government ID numbers, bank passwords, or health details) into AI chats unless a feature expressly requires it and you understand the risk.

8. Prohibited Uses of AI Features

You must not use AI features to:

  • Generate or distribute illegal, harmful, or fraudulent content
  • Harass, scam, or impersonate others
  • Attempt to extract confidential system prompts or bypass safety controls
  • Automate abusive scraping or spam at scale
  • Violate our Acceptable Use Policy or Terms of Service

9. Transparency

Where practical, we label or present AI-assisted experiences so you can understand that recommendations or replies may be machine-generated. If you are unsure whether content is AI-assisted, contact us.

10. Changes

We may update this Policy as our AI features and practices evolve. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date and, where appropriate, notice on the Platform.
