Community Guidelines

Version: 1.0 Effective Date: 10 July 2026
Privacy Terms Cookies AI Policy Acceptable Use Community Sellers Services

These Community Guidelines explain what is and isn't allowed on UNIMART AFRICA. They are our primary content moderation policy for listings, services, opportunities, profiles, reviews, messages, and AI-assisted content. They work together with our Acceptable Use Policy, Terms of Service, Seller Terms, and Service Provider Terms.

1. Our standard

UNIMART is a student economy platform built on trust. Be honest, respectful, and campus-minded. If an action would harm another student, a campus partner, or the integrity of the marketplace, do not do it.

2. What we encourage

  • Accurate product, service, and opportunity descriptions
  • Fair pricing and clear fulfillment or booking expectations
  • Respectful communication (including WhatsApp and in-app messages)
  • Helpful, genuine reviews based on real experiences
  • Reporting scams, harassment, or suspicious listings promptly

3. What is not allowed

Fake products

  • Listing items you do not have or cannot deliver
  • Counterfeit, stolen, or misrepresented goods
  • Using stock photos or descriptions that do not match the actual item
  • Bait-and-switch pricing or hidden mandatory fees

Scam services

  • Services that take payment and disappear
  • Fake credentials, forged certificates, or impersonation of professionals
  • Phishing, advance-fee scams, or “guaranteed job/visa/scholarship” schemes
  • Requesting payment outside agreed channels in a deceptive way

Harassment

  • Threats, bullying, stalking, or unwanted sexual advances
  • Hate speech or attacks based on identity, campus, tribe, religion, gender, or disability
  • Doxxing or sharing someone’s private contact details without consent
  • Repeated unwanted contact after someone asks you to stop

Fake opportunities

  • Jobs, internships, scholarships, or grants that do not exist
  • Charging applicants illegal or undisclosed “placement fees” to apply
  • Misrepresenting employer identity, salary, or eligibility
  • Harvesting CVs or personal data for unrelated marketing

Academic dishonesty

  • Ghostwriting exams, quizzes, or graded assignments for others
  • Selling unauthorized answer keys, leaked papers, or cheating tools
  • Services that knowingly violate university academic integrity rules
  • Impersonating a student in academic systems

Spam

  • Mass unsolicited messages, comments, or WhatsApp blasts
  • Repetitive duplicate listings designed to game discovery
  • Irrelevant keyword stuffing or misleading titles
  • Using bots or automation to inflate views, follows, or reviews

Offensive or harmful content

  • Pornography, sexual exploitation, or content involving minors
  • Graphic violence, glorification of crime, or dangerous challenges
  • Illegal drugs, unauthorized weapons, or other prohibited goods/services
  • Malware, phishing links, or social-engineering attacks

4. How moderation works

We may review content and accounts when:

  • A user reports a problem
  • Automated systems flag risk (fraud, spam, abuse)
  • Partners, campuses, or payment providers raise concerns
  • We conduct routine quality or safety checks

Actions we may take include warning, removing or limiting content, demoting listings, restricting features, suspending or terminating accounts, and—where required—reporting to authorities or institutions.

We aim to act proportionately and promptly on clear harm (scams, harassment, illegal content). We are not obligated to pre-screen every post.

5. Reporting

If you see something that breaks these Guidelines, contact [email protected] with links, screenshots, and a short description. Good-faith reports help keep campuses safe. False or retaliatory reports may themselves violate this policy.

6. Appeals

If you believe we moderated your content or account in error, email [email protected] with your account details and why you believe the decision should be reviewed. We will consider appeals in good faith but may uphold decisions that protect users or the Platform.

7. Changes

We may update these Guidelines as the Platform grows. Continued use after the effective date of an update means you accept the revised Guidelines.
